MOU is to assist Jordan to develop Political Activism in Jordan

The Center for Liberty in the Middle East headed from Washington signed a memorandum of understanding with the Interaction Forum in Amman.  The Center for Liberty in the Middle East is a think tank assists in creating political reform and political liberalization in the Middle East. The MoU states that the Interaction Forum will hold training to develop the skills and understanding of 70 Jordanian women on political activism.  These trainings will cover various aspects of electoral politics as well as provide political and social leadership skill.  The overall aim is to improve and raise the standard of Jordan’s political movement through political awareness and understanding. This memorandum is sponsored by the US State Department.  The project will be led by Jordanian and bipartisan American experts with background in various democratic political parties and in administrating elections, political participation and political decision making processes.  The objective will be to empower Jordanian women’s knowledge regarding politics so that they may influence the public policy effectively. The results expected from this initiative are to stimulate a large number of Jordanian projects to enhance Jordan’s civic society through participation and leading public opinion for the next municipality and parliamentary elections.  The participants will be trained on the fundamental foundational aspects of political engagement through the medium of e-Learning.  The training will also include planning electoral campaigns, development of political communication strategies, building election messages and understanding of the political environment.   Mr. Samer Abu Libdeh, Senior Fellow at the Center for Liberty in the Middle East stated regarding the memorandum of understanding, “The long term vision for this project is to empower and strengthen the liberal democratic movement in Jordan.  This can be done through the endorsement and development of political parties and organizations, political spectrum and civic society organization.  This will be achieved through educating, training, building expertise and modern political thought to positively move forward the democratic process.”
