The Pakistan Muslim League-N in its important meeting expressed its displeasure and disappointment over what it called attitude of Asif Ali Zardari and said that the PPP had not taken them into confidence over the nomination of a candidate for the office of the president. Former Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif chaired the meeting at Raiwind on Sunday and Raja Zafarul Haq, Ch Nisar Ali Khan, Ghous Ali Shah, Kh Muhammad Asif, Sardar Zulfikar Khosa and other senior leaders attended the meeting. The meeting that lasted for about four hours had been convened to chalk out future line of action in view of the prevalent political situation. Most of the participants opined that the party should voice for postponement of the holding of the presidential polls at least for a month. The meeting also resolved to hold meeting of the central working committee of the party on Monday (today) at Islamabad. An insider told The Post that majority of the leaders expressed their displeasure over the attitude of the PPP co-chairman for not fulfilling his words. More than two members suggested that the PML-N should abstain from casting votes for the presidential election. In his speech, Nawaz said that he had joined hands with Asif Zardari and that he was not a power hungry person in any manner. He lamented that the coalition partners had failed to get sacked judges restored in their offices. He stated that the PML-N and its leadership were fully committed to get rid of the country from all crises including the judges as well as of the economic and the financial crunches. Some members proposed that the party should sit on the opposition benches and that the next head of the state should be from a smaller province. The party leaders expressed their reservations over the ruling party. All provincial chapter party heads attended the meeting. "The meeting shared views on national issues and also discussed some very important issues. The central working committee will also meet today in Islamabad," says Zafar Iqbal Jhagra. Ghous Ali Shah told The Post that the PML-N was examining all political developments to make its strategy and line of action. He said that the PML-N would maintain its credibility, adding nothing would be concealed from the nation. He was of the view that the politics was a name of remaining active in it but that some things had to be kept secret for a time being. The PML-N would always come to the expectation of the masses, he said.
