Htdstudio Wins Griffintown Horsepalace Competition

HTDSTUDIO's entry among the winners of 5 design categories

Montreal - HTDSTUDIO DESIGNOFFICE won a competition to build a temporary gallery space in the Griffintown section of Old Montreal, Canada. The Griffintown Interrupted Ideas Competition took 5 strategic vacant sites in hopes to create a series of temporary interventions to raise awareness of the history of Griffintown, Montreal, while creating cultural, community and public activity to rejuvenate the faded industrial area.

Each proposal was to include a plan for its own disassembly, dehabitation or disappearance at the end of its short term lease. Each submission determined the conditions of the structure’s use for the duration of the provided lease.

The five winning proposals will be featured in a digital exhibition and digital publication, entitled Griffintown Interrupted, coming in January, 2011
