Talent Management: Lily Cole Supports Student Protests

Ever since the recent students protest in central London, against increases in university tuition fees, there has been a mass of debate and controversy sparked off among almost everyone including the team here at Talent Management.

And Lily Cole, Top British model, actor and student at the University of Cambridge, is no different.

In a recent article for The Guardian online, entitled ‘Why I support the student protests’, the vivacious redhead reveals her support for student protests.

Although Cole didn't agree with some of the banners flying at the demonstration, saying they seemed to make “crude political simplifications”, and the violence that came from direct action, she revealed it was “so sad to think that we are about to lose what I regard as one of the country's most wonderful and enviable assets”.

“I have always been proud when I tell my American friends how little going to university in the UK costs (at least compared with the American system),” she said.

Putting across a well thought out opinion, Cole went on to explain that although a degree isn't for everyone, we shouldn't be putting people off pursuing one just because they are from a low-income family.

And Cole’s support for humanitarian causes doesn’t stop here.

Being an ambassador for children's charity Global Angels, and supporting the charity WaterAid, she has demonstrated her interest for a variety of humanitarian and environmental causes.

She has also modelled a T-shirt with the slogan ‘Save the Future’ to fight child labour in the fashion industry for the Environmental Justice Foundation.
