The KID WHISPERERS are TURNING EDUCATION UPSIDE DOWN AND looking for 2,009 elementary schools in 2009!
We're looking for 2009 elementary schools ready to commit to the success of every child. "We empower the child, rather than waiting for the system to change. A child needs to understand learning is about how their brain figures things out. It's just like riding a bike. You have to try it to learn."
The fcat is any of us cn reed no mttaer waht the wrods lok lik or in waht oredr the ltteres are in. So dislxyac kids should be albe to raed jsut prefetcly.
Sue Woodward and her daughter Wendy Garrido, BA Psychology, University of Chicago founded North Star Family Matters Magazine and are soliciting elementary schools and kids to write one letter to tell them why they should be a part of the 2009² Kid Whisperers program. For one year NSFM will give away the magazine and Kid Whisperer program to every child and teacher in the school. Woodward says, "The goal is to reestablish the love of learning that each child is born with by empowering them with the truths of how their brain works and what their potential is. We can't tell them how to learn or ride a bike. We let them figure it out for themselves. Our job is to give them the tools to believe and trust that they can ride learn. It's a matter of choice, not intelligence."
In just a short amount of time The Kid Whisperers get to the root of the problem – that the child doesn't believe they are smart! They work with kids via Skype, using a system they developed called an Engage-AloudTM, which leads a child to figure out their own answers.
"I work with kids who read about three levels below their grade. In just minutes we turn that around by empowering the child with simple things that prove their potential, in spite of their beliefs. Not one child says they choose to fail. "
The latest brain research shows how we see ourselves in the world just may be the biggest deterrent to addictions. 50% of the people in NASA have been diagnosed with dyslexia, but their brains figured out how to work around the limitations. 3% of our population is in jail, and about 70% could not read past a fourth grade level--no one helped them figure out how their brain works. This is the future of moving kids away from alcohol and drugs.
