Vale Verde International School, a private day school in the Algarve region of Portugal has this week announced that it has yet again achieved a one hundred percent pass rate for all first time sitters of the Cambridge University International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) exams. Vale Verde has maintained a one hundred percent pass rate in all subjects in all but one of its administrations in the school’s history.
According to its senior management team, twenty percent of candidates achieved an overall distinction in their subjects, seventy percent obtained an overall merit and only two did not fall in these two categories, but nonetheless obtained a pass. The school is one of a few in the country to opt out of the Portuguese curriculum and therefore is not ranked in the national league tables for state operated schools.
The results come amidst expansion of the school that will see existing buildings almost double in size to accommodate one of Europe’s first bilingual primary schools to complement an already diverse student body.
The school credits the teachers for their dedication and the students for their hard work to produce results that are consistent with previous administrations and reflective of the teaching models delivered by the school.
To further refine its reputation for teaching excellence, Vale Verde has announced the introduction of interactive learning suites that will be synchronised with personal laptops provided by the school. It is intended that class work and homework will be managed by a web based program that is easily monitored by the student and teaching staff.
