San Diego, CA – Individuals from across the globe gather each year for the National Conflict Resolution Center’s (NCRC) Winter Institute program, designed to teach mediation skills to those with a need or desire to ease conflict. For the first time ever, in addition to offering the training for individuals, NCRC is offering the services in a specialized program geared at business managers and human resources professionals.
Marc Sands, a high-tech attorney in San Diego, took part in NCRC’s training in 2008 and will be attending the advanced course in this year’s Winter Institute. “In the legal field and the workplace, some of the most difficult challenges we face evolve from competing priorities, resources and ideas,” said Sands. “NCRC’s mediation training is very hands-on and has provided me with a useful toolkit for resolving these types of challenges.”
The Winter Institute is divided into two, four-day courses, totaling 32 hours each course. Course one, February 10 – 13, 2009 is an introductory level that teaches NCRC’s classic six stage facilitative mediation process through lectures, interactive exercises and participatory simulations. Course two, February 16 – 19, 2009 introduces new techniques and supervised one-on-one skills development for dealing with impasse, ethical dilemmas, money issues, high conflict personalities and adaptations of the facilitative model in business and legal settings.
The two classes are individual and not required as a set. The cost for course one is $1,250. The cost for course two is $1,500. Continuing Education Credits are available. The training will take place at the La Jolla Shores Hotel. For more information or to register, visit http://www.ncrconline.com or call 619-238-2400 x233.
