The graduates are employed in rural areas and are promoting the development of rural communities by improving the educational level, embarking on projects to fight diseases, food shortages, and to improve the condition of life for the children and all the people in the communities. The college uses the Modern Determination of Methods of learning, which is a child and student centered teaching/learning approach. The training period is 2 ½ years and is divided into 8 periods. Each period has its name and characteristics serving the development of the student individually and collectively. The periods have aspects of theory and practice exposing the teachers to the modern teaching profession. The college neighborhood benefits from activities organized by the college. These are cleaning actions in the township, Open Saturdays, culture festivals and campaigns against HIV/AIDS and Malaria. The college host big events like Olympic games and culture festivals for the community and ADPP projects in Mozambique. The student teachers offer adult literacy classes to local people who wish to upgrade their education. 7 neighboring primary schools benefit from students on school practice. The student teachers spend during their 4th period half-day at the schools and the other half at the college preparing lessons and studying. This inspires the student teachers to integrate the pedagogic theoretical studies and practical experience. The student teachers work as teachers in schools in Gaza, Inhambane and Maputo province for 11 months during the 6th period. Student teachers actively participate in community development, which is a requirement during the teaching practice period. Student teachers organize sports games, educational exhibitions, and outreach campaigns for the development of the communities surrounding the college. During weekends children from the surrounding communities attend reading lessons at the college. Community development is an important aspect of the teacher-training programmed. The college operates 3 Pedagogical Workshops. These are equipped with modern technology and information materials for teachers to improve their practices and for the community in general to access recent information and technology. The Pedagogical workshops are running seminars every second month for teachers in the districts to help them implement the new primary school curriculum introduced by the Ministry of Education in Mozambique. The seminars on the implementation of the new curriculum are in collaboration with the National Institute for Development of Education. The college has Development Instructors teaching courses in English, organizing evening programs, and helping students prepare lessons and follow-ups in school practice. The Development Instructors carry out community development projects. The college is fighting HIV/AIDS through information campaigns and distributing condoms.
