The company behind buy World of Warcraft accounts is one of several massive multiplayer online game publishers being sued for patent infringment.
Paltalk, a New York based company, alleges that Activision Blizzard, NCSoft, Turbine and others infringed a patent pertaining to online multiplayer gaming. Paltalk previous sued Microsoft for violating the same patent, as allegedly used in Halo 3. Earlier this year, Microsoft settled the lawsuit, agreeing that to license the patent for an undisclosed sum.
The lawsuit is being filed in Marshall, Texas - the same place where Microsoft lost a patent infringement suit and was ordered to stop selling word software.
Paltalk argues that the settlement with Microsoft strengthens its case, but this raises an interesting question. If all the companies named in this current filing settle does this allow Paltalk to continue suing every company that uses this very common technology?
