Gray-Nicolls are one of the best known cricket bat manufacturers around. They are always striving to innovate within the field of cricket equipment and the new Xiphos cricket bats are no exception.
The Xiphos cricket bat has unique grooving on the back of the blade which has resulted from Gray-Nicolls’ heritage of scooped bats combining with the high demand today for bats to have the ultimate profile.
The Xiphos range have thick edges and a huge sweet spot which combines with a beautifully balanced pick up that is designed to give any cricketer confidence. Professionally bowed, the feel is enhanced to give added control that every player strives for. The massive profile delivers extreme power.
The Xiphos range of cricket bats weighs from 2lb 7oz to 3lb approximately.
There are five senior models available and two junior models. The senior models start with the custom made Pro Performance at the very top end of the scale, which are the same bats as used by international test cricketers. These are made to order for each individual and therefore cannot be bought off the shelf, but must be ordered specially through specialist cricket equipment suppliers.
Following this are the Atomic and Carbo models which have specialised reinforced handles fitted. The Atomic model has carbon replacing the traditional rubber/cork mix spring, which results in an ultra stiff feel for maximum control and power, transferring bat speed through the cricket ball at its optimum. The Carbo model uses Carbon Fibre added to the stress point which gives a slight flex without losing stability, resulting in assured power where needed in the hitting zone.
At the lower end of the scale are the Five Star and the Xtreme models which offer the benefits of the Xiphos at a more affordable price using standard handles and lower English willow grades which are suitable for most club level cricketers.
The junior Xiphos models start at size 4 and go up to Harrow, using English willow, these are priced at the mid to top end of the market, for more competent youngsters.
The distinctive chrome effect branding is sure to be a hit with players of all ages this season.
