National Association of Sports Officials Celebrates 30
Years -- and Recognizes New Jersey Attorney
Alan Goldberger, a partner in the Millburn New Jersey law firm of Brown Moskowitz &
Kallen, P.C. was recognized as one of "30 Who Made a Difference" in a recent Referee
Magazine feature in recognition of the 30th anniversary of the National Association of
Sports Officials (NASO). NASO, the world’s largest organization for officials at every
level and all sports, is the leading source of officiating education, programs and services.
NASO works with many state and local associations to provide training seminars,
nationally renowned speakers, books and manuals for educational purposes; and
promotes sports officiating as a positive, rewarding and meaningful career.
The Association cited Goldberger, the author of "Sports Officiating: A Legal Guide," for
his service as a regular speaker at the NASO annual Summit; as well as drafting an
amicus curiae brief filed by NASO in support of five Texas high school football officials
in the widely publicized case of Midwest Employers Casualty Company v. Harpole.
Goldberger, a past-president of the 800-plus member North Jersey Board of Approved
Basketball Officials, officiated football, basketball and baseball for more than 25 years.
He is a frequent speaker to officials, coaches and attorneys on sports law.
