Sleepy Town Press-We are a Print-on-Demand company. We can not do everything that a traditional publisher does, but we will do everything that we can to help you have success with your book. We will support you and help you promote your book. We can not promise that big name book stores will carry your book, but things are changing in that area. We hope to see a lot of areas open in the near future.
The publishing world is changing every day. People like us are making a noise. We are "banging" a drum loudly in the world of publishing.
Sleepy Town Press is not JUST for children's books. It is for almost any genre. (The only thing that we are not interested in publishing is Erotica. There are special places for that area os writing.)
The only books that will be published under the Sleepy Town Press logo are Children's books.
ALL OTHER BOOKS will be under an imprint name.
Your book will be listed with Ingram, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Target, as well as other internet sites. The other day, I found a Children's Book of mine listed on a site in China. You never know where your book will show up.
Most people want to know if we accept every manuscript. We do not. We feel that the field of writing, publishing, and being an author is so important. We want our authors to be proud of the service and support that we provide. If we cared more about money than service, we would accept any and all manuscripts. For this reason, we do screen submissions and if we feel that we can not do your work justice or that your work does not fit our vision, we will pass on your submission.

The winners will be posted on this web site and on our MySpace site.
The best of the submissions may be put into a collection and published in 2009, if permission is given by the authors. All authors in the collection will share in any royalties from the sell of the book at NO COST to the author.
We have a book cover design service.
We now are ready to offer a full book cover design service. This includes proofs for the author as well as being able to save it in the format that you need for printing.
We will custom design a cover to your liking. You are welcome to submit art and photos for the cover. To get the best out of art and photos, they need to be scanned at 300 dpi. (You can take your art or photos to a place such as Office Max and have this done.
The illustrations for Sleepy Town were done in colored pencil and scanned by Office Max, saved as jpg, and put on a disk.
Some frequently asked questions:
Do you screen manuscripts? Yes, we do not automatically accept every manuscript that is submitted. We feel that author's work is very personal and we have a vision at Sleepy Town Press. We do you a disservice, if we accept your manuscript and it does not fit our company.
Will I be required to choose a template for your book? No, you will not have a template designed cover. As an artist, I will do my best to help you come up with a cover that will make someone want to pick up your book and read it.
Does the company have an online bookstore for customers to purchase your book directly (which means higher revenues for you) or do they force you to rely on Amazon and other “middlemen?” Yes, we have an online bookstore. We also allow the author to order their own books at a very affordable price.
Are there “outs” in the contract that allow for easy termination if you find a “traditional” publisher? If, after publishing with us, you have a "traditional" publisher offer you a contract, we will be more than happy to discuss dissolving the contract. We really do care about the author and will not ever stand in the way of your success. We want the best for you.
Does the publisher allow you to keep all rights to your book? Your book is your book. We will not take it from you. You keep the rights to your book. Of course, there are areas of the publishing process that are only handled by and owned the publisher. Example: If I design a book cover for you, the cover belongs to the company. I would ask you to change the cover, or discuss with me keeping the cover, if you were to ever leave Sleepy Town Press.
Are there other imprints available, besides Sleepy Town Press? Sleepy Town Press is the inspiration and parent of the entire company. Sleepy Town Press was created primarily for the publishing and promotion of children's books. There are other imprints under the parent company name.
Does the publisher allow you to design your own book/cover? This is something that we are willing to discuss with you. If your design is appropriate and meets the requirements, we might be able to use your design. We do have an in-house graphics artist.
