STUDIO 214, LLC’S “Work of Art” will be shown Nov. 1 at 12:45 p.m. at Cinema Paradiso, 503 SE 6 St., Ft. Lauderdale, as a selection in the Sunshine Celluloid category for the 2008 Ft. Lauderdale Film festival. This is the first feature for director Joel Sotolongo and the worldwide premiere of the film.
The story revolves around two people who need to find a way out of a jam and turn to mischief as a way out. Meanwhile, two contract killers are on the prowl but today’s hit may turn out to be a day a bit out of the ordinary. Indeed, nothing is status quo in the lives of all of the characters in this dark comedy.
With unforgettable characters, the movie features two parallel story lines that link together at the end, leading the viewers on a great ride filled with humorous antics, twists and turns, witty one-liners and unexpected conversations.
This piece proved to be an excellent showcase for local talent. The acting is top notch, some of which have advanced their careers in Los Angeles since the shoot, others are multi-talented with side careers as musicians or fashion designers – adding their unique abilities into the overall result that is “Work of Art.”
This truly is a South Florida feature film. The cast and crew maneuvered their way around South Florida to various locations for this production, from the streets of South Florida to the Everglades.
